Woodie Howell

WOODIE HOWELL – Woodrow Onis “Woodie” Howell, age 72, of Columbus, MS, passed away February 11, 2019, at his residence. Funeral services will be Friday, February 15, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel College St. location. The interment will be at 2:00 PM at Ridge Cemetery in Red Bay, AL. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Mr. Howell was born May 22, 1946, in Red Bay, AL, to the late Onis W. and Arvie Ree Franks Howell. He worked as an iron worker for many years and was a member of the Local #92 Iron Workers Union of Birmingham, AL, for over 40 years.
Survivors include his daughters, Gerrie Lynn Poitra and her husband Phillip of Odenville, AL, Nona R. Duffie and her husband Mickey of Saltillo, MS, son, Spencer D. Howell of Columbus, MS, former wife and lifetime friend, Mary K. “Jean” Howell of Odenville, AL, grandchildren, Chase W. McCollum, Zachary S. McCollum, Joshua Duffie and his wife Loni, and Caleb Duffie and his wife Natalie, and great grandchildren, Elijah Duffie, Levitt Duffie, and Silas Duffie.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
