WILLIAM LANGFORD
William “Titum” Langford, age 95, of Caledonia, MS, passed away February 1, 2021, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 4, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel College St. location with Lee Jaynes officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus with military honors. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service.
Mr. Langford was born March 22, 1925, in Mantee, MS, to the late Lonnie and Annie Adams Langford. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. Mr. Langford was a member of the 112 th Infantry Regiment and 28 th Infantry Division, he stormed Omaha Beach and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a U. S. Army Boxing Champion and was the recipient of the Purple Heart, pinned on him by Queen Elizabeth while in England. Mr. Langford loved playing pool and enjoyed looking after his ducks, geese, and fish. He enjoyed eating every Friday at Tags in Hamilton, MS, with his family. Mr. Langford was the owner of several local establishments. He loved his kids and grandkids, but most of all, he loved his late wife of 65 years, Minnie Pearl Langford. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by children, William Earl Langford, Lonnie James Langford, and Ruth Ann Langford, great grandchild, Harley Jo Cantrell, 6 brothers, and 8 sisters.
Survivors include children, Bonnie Cantrell (Allen Haynes) of Caledonia, MS, Judy Hendon (Lloyd) of West Point, MS, Katina McGee of Caledonia, MS, Linda P. Langford (Kenny Jaynes) of Ethelsville, AL, Norma Jean Langford of Caledonia, MS, Mary Jane Dunser of Caledonia, MS, and Mary Nelson of Mullberry, IN, 25 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Cantrell, Roy Lester, Jr., Terry Taylor, Jr., Cory McGee, Alex McGee, and Donnie “D. J.” McGee Jr.
