BILL BROWNLEE

William Shaden “Bill” Brownlee, age 82, of Columbus, MS, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 3, 2021 , at Shaeffer’s Chapel United Methodist Church.  Following visitation, a graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM at Oaklimb Cemetery in Crawford, MS.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 716 2 ^nd Ave. North location is in charge of arrangements.

Bill, also known as Red, was born in Ethelsville, AL, on August 22, 1938, to the late Shaden and Mattie Brownlee.  Bill was known to be tough and hard headed on the outside and soft and big hearted on the inside.  He was an electrician for a long 57 years and wired most homes in Lowndes County.  He also served his country.  He had a love for footlong chili cheese hotdogs and ice cream.  He also had a deep love for his family.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Shaden and Mattie Brownlee.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Brownlee of Columbus, MS, daughters, Pam Wright (Michael) of Ethelsville, AL, and Melondy Holcombe (Norman) of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Bailey Stewart, Braden Stewart, Christopher Holcombe, and Madalyn Grace Holcombe, brother, Robert Earl Brownlee of TX, and sister, Betty McLemore of GA.

Pallbearers will be Brad Permenter, Stephen Buchanan, Ryan Buchanan, Craig Brownlee, Jason Brownlee, and Josh Gentry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Pridmore, Scott Pridmore, Tommy Gore, Mike Gore, and Todd Abels.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shaeffer’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 1007 Shaeffer’s Chapel Rd., Columbus, MS, 39701 , or Columbus Lowndes Humane Society in honor of his granddogs, Gypsy, Presley, and Boomer, P.O. Box 85, Columbus, MS, 39703 .
