William Carlton Ayers wonhis battle with DSRCT, Desmo-plastic Small Round Cell Tumor— a rare type of cancer, on Fri-day, July 12, 2019.

Despite being told at age 13 he had terminal cancer, Will lived! He lived each day to the fullest always excited about his next adventure. Throughout his battle, he did not complain, he did not stop living, he kept his head up and focused on being positive. Will graduated high school, attended college, scrubbed in on surgery cases for hands-on surgery tech experience. Will enjoyed deer hunting with his father, turkey hunting with his stepfather, video games with friends near and far, and going to the beach with his family. He was a mama’s boy and loved his mother fiercely. He cherished time with his sister Mara and adored his dogs Blitz and Bitsy. Will was full of life and showed us all how to live it. There was never any sorrow that tomorrow was not promised. On special occasions, mostly at the beach, his large family surrounded him, yet never smothered him. No one let Will win at Bocce or Yhatzee; he had to do it on his own, and he did. He quietly met all the challenges his body could throw at him, with a smile, with a hug and unwavering courage. Will proved that life is beautiful when it’s simple, filled with compassion
and crazy amounts of love! Will was a simple guy, calming to be around, deliberate in his actions, very witty, gentle with words and most impor-
tantly very loving! He kept us laughing with his clever, quick-witted comments often directed at Paul, his stepfather. Will showed us how precious
life is and we will all carry this gift, his gift to us, of just how to live life to the fullest each day.
