Walter Stubbe

February 11, 1943 — August 2, 2023

Forever the entrepreneur, working until he couldn’t, Walter Stubbe’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. Early evening August 2, 2023  Walter passed away at the age of 80. He was surrounded by his closest family.
Walter was born in Laurel, Mississippi on February 11, 1943. He met his future wife Sandra Peebles in high school. Walter graduated from Mississippi State University in Industrial Business. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity & MSU Track Team. His love of running never stopped, he ran the entire Golden Triangle. Run, Walter,  Run!
Walter’s first job was with Standard Oil. This job inspired his love of traveling and design. He opened 3 gift stores while still working a full time position, at Fisher Marine West Point as VP of Sales.
In the 1980’s Walter began selling gift lines all over the south. If he showed up in his motor home at your store; you were going to buy something!
In 1993, He and Sandra purchased a small candle company in TN. Walter named that company, Aspen Bay Candle Company, and those candles & fragrance accessories still sell today.
Walter owned other candle & fragrance brands throughout his lifetime- always selling what he believed in ; QUALITY.
Never retiring, because he wasn’t able to sit still, Walter sold industrial LED lights for ME BULBS as a road representative up until 3 weeks before he passed. He was a member The Rotary Club of Columbus and First United Methodist Church Columbus. He will miss sitting with his “back row” of beautiful ladies.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Etoile & Walter Stubbe Sr., his sisters Gwen & Jackie and his wife, Sandra Peebles Stubbe.
He is survived by his daughter Tracie S. Henson (Bart,) grandchildren, Kelsey K. Newman & Nicholas L. Newman and cousin Pat Shields (Don.)
The family wishes to thank especially Gabby of Gentiva Hospice & Our places of employment: Walton’s Greenhouse Columbus, Impression Solutions, Inc. Columbus & The Magg Columbus.
