Virginia Dowdle

Virginia Wheat Dowdle, age 95, of Columbus, MS, passed away April 18, 2025, at Trinity Healthcare. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Henry Freeman officiating. A private interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dowdle was born October 6, 1929, in Gordo, AL, to the late Johnnie Gilbert and Naomi Baines Wheat. She and her late husband, Lee Dowdle owned and operated Columbus Dental Lab for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Dowdle was preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth Harrell, Pearlie Freeman, Albert Wheat, Betty Freeman, and Zelbert Wheat.

Survivors include her sister, Frances Lindsey of Columbus, MS, brother, Elbert Wheat of Columbus, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be all the nurses and staff of Trinity Healthcare.
