VERNON STUDDARD

Vernon Aaron Studdard, Jr., age 71, of Amory, MS, formerly of Columbus, MS, passed away September 20, 2019, at his residence.  A memorial service will be Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until the time of the service.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 2 ^nd Ave. location is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Studdard was born April 30, 1948, in Columbus, MS, to the late Vernon Aaron and Scottie Speights Studdard, Sr.  He was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School and attended Ole Miss where he played on the football team and was a member of the 1970 Sugar Bowl team.  Mr. Studdard also played in the NFL for the New York Jets.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbus.

Survivors include his son, Vernon Aaron “Trey” Studdard, III, of Atlanta, GA, daughter, Summer Studdard of Amory, MS, son, Chris Turner of Atlanta, GA, and daughter, Tasha Turner of Amory, MS, brothers, Larry Studdard and his wife Yvette of Roswell, GA, and Tommy Studdard of GA, sisters, Dee Davis and her husband Bilbo, of Columbus, MS, Evelyn Levine, and Sherrill Webber of Birmingham, AL, and grandchildren, Ashley Studdard, Hope Studdard, Dawson Turner, and Harrison Turner.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
