Vernon B. Hemby of Columbus, Mississippi

November 21, 1929 - December 21, 2019

Vernon B. Hemby, age 90, of Columbus, MS, passed away December 21, 2019, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, MS.  Graveside services will be Friday, December 27, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Gardens of Columbus with full military honors.  Visitation will be Thursday, December 26, 2019, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 903 College St.

Mr. Hemby was born November 21, 1929, in Magee, MS, to the late S. E. and Eunice Hemby, Jr.  He was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the United States Air Force and retired as an air craft mechanic for the Air Force.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Betty Jean Hemby and Cora Mae Hemby, and daughters, Bonnie Jean Yates, Jo-Ann Kidd, and Susan J. Simpson.

Survivors include his sons, Vernon Hemby, Jr. and his wife Vickie of Columbus, MS, and Dewayne Edward Hemby and his wife Kelly of Ovieda, FL, sister, Tot Martin of Tulsa, OK, 4 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
