THOMAS CASH
Tom Cash was kind. He was a devoted husband, caring father, and considerate friend. He cherished moments with his family, PawPaw hugs, the sunset in Gulf Shores, and quietly serving others. Tom had an ever so subtle sarcastic wit that made you giggle even when you knew you shouldn’t. It was one of his many endearing qualities. His creativity brought great beauty to the world, even though he often doubted his value in the process. No one has made a more positive impact on the self-esteem of others with a blow dryer, brushes, roadside floral arrangements, gossip and chicken casserole.
Thomas Loftis Cash, passed away Saturday, May 15 th , 2021, in Rome, Georgia, in the embrace of his family. After months of battling heart complications, he suffered a stroke that ultimately his body was too weary to overcome. However, with his body failing, his spirit remained strong. It broke his heart to leave his family, but he was ready to see his faith fulfilled in the eternal presence of Jesus.
Tom was the 8 th child of a sharecropping family in Steens, Mississippi. From rural beginnings, he somehow found his way from the factory to the salon – a calling to cut hair that he pursued his entire life. He retired this past year at the age of 83. His career accomplishments included serving as the President of the Mississippi Hairdressers Association, lifetime membership in the Mississippi Hair Fashion Committee, and Gubernatorial appointment to the State Board of Cosmetology.
Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mollye Greer Cash; his son and daughter-in-law, Courtney and Stefanie Cash, his granddaughter Caroline Cash; his sister, Mildred Atkins and her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mark Amdall, along with their children and grandchildren; his “other child” Cathy Lancaster Kruen; his brother-in-law and spouse, Thomas and Paulette Watson Greer along with their children and grandchildren; and his sister-in-law and her spouse, June and Ken Briggs along with their children and grandchildren.
