TERRELL FONDREN "TED" YOUNGER

Ted Younger, age 88, died Saturday, January 7, 2023, peacefully at his residence in Columbus. Services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Sarah Windham officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service at the church.

Ted was born December 13, 1934, in Lowndes County, Mississippi, to the late Roy Allen Younger, Sr. and Charlie Lee Fondren Younger. He attended Stephen D. Lee High School and East Mississippi Junior College. At EMJC, he was a member of the 1955 and 1956 football teams and was selected Most Handsome in 1956. While attending EMJC, he met the love of his life, Marlene Davis, and it was truly "love at first sight".

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and exemplified a life well lived by touching the lives of others through love, compassion, and goodness. In addition to his kind heart, he will be known for his love of animals, his quick wit, and his wonderful sense of humor. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a joy to be around.

He is survived by his daughters Kimberly (Michael) Phillips (Columbus, MS) and Nichole Shows (Columbus, MS) and grandchildren Kristen Nicole Phillips (Birmingham, AL) and Michael Kyler Phillips (Columbus, MS). He is also survived by his sister-in-laws Janet Davis Nester (Dekalb, MS) and Adrine Younger Bishop (Columbus, MS).

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Marlene Davis Younger, of 65 years; son-in-law, Brian Michael Shows (Brandon, MS); sisters- Sarah Younger Phillips, Marjorie Younger Cox, and Linda Carol Younger; brothers- Taylor Eugene Younger, Joe Dudley Younger, Charles Jerome Younger, and Roy Allen Younger, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Younger, Dow Phillips, Kyler Phillips, Mike Phillips, Tom Adkins, and Allen Ulmer.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. James Woodard, Dr. Terry Westmoreland, Dr. Robert Jones, and Dr. John Whitecar, Jr. for all their years of care. And most recently, to caregiver Amy Cummings, and the Staff of Legacy Hospice- Karen Barrett, Charlene Cooke, Lauren Fulgham, Lee Calvert, and Hazel Wallace for their excellent care and compassion.
