Taylor Loyd Wright

December 6, 1978 — March 10, 2024

Taylor Loyd Wright left his earthly life on March 10, 2024, at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Oregon, surrounded by his mother and sisters.  There will be a visitation Friday, March 22, 2024, from 11:00 am until the celebration of life service at 1:00 pm at Vibrant Church, 500 Holly Hills Rd., Columbus, MS.  Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home.

Taylor was born December 6th, 1978, in Amory, MS.  He attended New Hope Elementary and Middle School then attended Pickens Academy for ninth and tenth grades where he excelled in football, basketball and baseball; he was coached by his two uncles, Lynn and Lane Wright.  He graduated from Heritage Academy in 1997 where he excelled in football and baseball.  Taylor and teammate Eric Durham represented Heritage in the 1997 MAIS All Star game.  Throughout Taylor’s junior and high school years, he played on Dale Tucker’s summer baseball teams where lifelong friends were made.  Taylor attended Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he was a member of their baseball team.

Taylor loved everything Alabama and enjoyed attending all sporting events or watching from afar when he lived in California and Oregon.  He was able to attend two national championship games.

Taylor loved life and his smile and personality would light up a room.  He loved deeply, especially his family.  He had a heart of gold and was always a giver, as demonstrated by the donation of his organs at the end of his life.

He is survived by his parents, Debbie(Bob) Howland and Loyd(Susan) Wright; his sisters Kelly(Corey) Epperson and Hannah Howland; his Granddaddy, Tommy Tate; his aunts and uncles; Tony(Kathy) Tate; Ginger Wright, Beth(Michael) Ludwig, Larry (Kathy) Wright, Luther (Penney) Wright, Lane (Carol) Wright; cousins, Shelly Tate Buffa, David Tate, Josh Wright, Jody Wright, Jonathan Wright, Jake Wright, Myranda Wright Lindsay, Samantha Wright Holmes; and niece, Elizabeth Ludwig.

Pallbearers will be Tony Tate, David Tate, Michael Ludwig, Corey Epperson, Chad Moody, and Kevin Evans. Honorary pallbearers will be Heritage Academy class of 1997, Dale Tucker Summer baseball teams, Jason Taylor, Matt Smith, his Wright uncles Larry, Luther, Lane and cousin, Jake Wright.
