SYLVIA HEMPHILL

Sylvia Lavon Webb Hemphill, age 84, of Columbus, MS , passed away April 24, 2021, at Dugan Memorial Home of West Point, MS.  A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 716 2 ^nd Ave. North location is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hemphill was born November 16, 1936, in Lake City, FL, to the late George Clinton and Jewel Albritton Webb.  She was employed for 20 years at Baptist Memorial Hospital as the supervisor of switchboard operation and she was a Baptist.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hemphill was preceded in death by her husband, William Gene Hemphill, daughter, Joanna Carol Prather, and sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Babe Collings.

Survivors include her son, Johnny Holliman, Jr., daughters, Jeanne McGee and her husband Randy, Donna Shelton and her husband Tony, and Melanie Corbell and her husband Michael, all of Columbus, MS, son-in-law, Donald Prather of Columbus, MS, brother, Arthur “Buddy” Webb and his wife Joy of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren, Tony Shelton, Jr. and his wife Candace, Jonathan Holliman, Erin McGee Bragg and her husband Joey, Robert Smith and his wife Christi, and Sean Guyton, and great grandchildren, Austin Shelton, Parker Shelton, Joanna Bragg, Rachel Bragg, and Brylee Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, 800 Avery Boulevard, Suite 100, Ridgeland, MS, 39157-5225 .
