Our beloved, Sue Jones Shelton, 92, went to be with her Heavenly Father, October 9th, 2024 at her residence in Columbus, MS. Visitation will be held Friday, October 11th, 2024, at First Baptist Church, 202 7th Street North, Columbus, MS from 12:00 noon - 1:30 p.m. Graveside service will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus, MS, at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Bobby Douglas officiating. Interment will follow. Memorial Funeral & Crematory will be in charge of arrangements. Sue was born October 27th, 1931 to Emma Ione and Thomas Hardy Jones. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Sue was a homemaker while her children were young and then after marrying David Shelton, she went to work at the Lowndes County Chancery Clerk's Office and later Graham Tire Company. Sue and David did a lot of traveling together and loved the weekends in Oxford watching Ole Miss play football. Sue loved sewing and any chance she had you would find her making the Emmanus necklaces, where she made 1000's. She loved her church and loved her Sunday School class lead by Dot Burdishaw. Sue Shelton is survived by her husband, David Shelton, who she has been married to half her life, daughter, Susan Noland (Greg), daughter, Gail Pounders, Step-Son , Justin Shelton (Anna) and Daughter-in-Law, Anita Turner. Grandchildren: Kristi Rector, Kelli Bartimus, Kati Lee, Turner Pounders, Claire Shelton, Cole Shelton, Catherine Shelton, Kala Blakely, Luke Turner, Jakob Baird, Jill Baird and numerous great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jakob Baird, Greg Noland, Turner Pounders, Steve Shackelford, Cole Shelton, Justin Shelton, Bill Shook, and Luke Turner. Honorary Pallbearers: James Baird, David Bartimus, Eric Blakely, Bill Brigham, Kenneth Burns, Ray Gore, Bennie Kyle, Paul Lavender, Jr., Peyton Lee, Bobby Patrick, Hayes Rector, Ronnie Shelton, Sonny Shelton, Claude Shook, Caregivers Shaketta Rice and Fannie Abrams, Shaquala Joseph, Reau Berry's Sunday School Class and Dot Burdishaw's Sunday School Class and in memory of son- Mark Turner, daughter- June Baird, sister-Martha Shackelford, sister-Betty Conn and grandson-Ryan Turner.
