It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Lewis Hudson on November 20, 2024, at the age of 64. Stephen was born on December 5, 1959 in Columbus, MS to Charles and Ann Hudson.
After graduating from Caldwell High School in 1977, he went on to attend Mississippi State University where his love for sports grew tremendously. He studied business and took interest in psychology along the way, which only increased his love of books. His favorite hobbies were watching all sports from golf to tennis, with his favorite being Mississippi State baseball and football. He also loved hunting at his brother’s cabin and spending time in nature.
Stephen married his wife Kathy on August 15, 1981. During their 43 years of marriage, they had two daughters, Kathryn Paige (Smith) and Carly Elise (Foley). Stephen was a wonderful father and a loving husband. He coached both daughters’ softball teams throughout their childhood and took his family on beach vacations every year, making lasting memories that will be carried in the hearts of his loved ones.
In 2022, Stephen retired from Tronox in Hamilton, MS, where he worked for 22 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, watching all the sports he could, and taking afternoon naps.
Stephen was preceded in death by his father Charles Arthur Hudson and his mother Ann McGee Hudson.
Stephen is survived by his wife: Kathy Nell Hudson, his daughters: Kathryn Paige Smith (Jason) of Lake Park, GA and Carly Hudson Foley (Lauren) of Brandon, MS, his granddaughter: Katelyn LeeAnn Smith, his sister: Carol Frazier, and his brother: Calvin Hudson. His departure leaves an unfillable void in their lives, yet they find comfort in the memories and everlasting love they shared.
Services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbus, MS on Sunday, November 24, 2024 with visitation at 11am and services at 1pm with graveside services immediately following at Friendship Cemetery.
