Steve Blackburn

Steve Blackburn, 65, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at his residence in Columbus.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory chapel.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Steve was born on May 23, 1958 in Germany to Catherine Perkins Blackburn and the late Walter Casey Blackburn.  He graduated from Lajes High School in Azores, Portugal and went on to work as a welder for Monroe Tufline for 38 years.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patsy Blackburn, and grandparents, Mosey Miles Perkins, Virginia Shelton Perkins, Charles Eugene Blackburn, and Mary Holt Blackburn.

He is survived by his mother, Catherine Blackburn; sister Mellynne Blackburn Dickason and her husband, Joe Dickason; nieces, Waverly Dickason and Kalee Dickason; step children, Kendra DeVaughn and Anthony DeVaughn; and his aunts and several cousins.

Honorary pallbearers are his close friends, Jim Helton and his son, Jimmy Helton, his coworkers from Monroe Tufline, and Dr. King.

Steve was a loving and kind son, brother, uncle, husband and step father.  He touched so many lives and never met a stranger, often sharing tidbits of information on many different subjects.  He will be dearly missed.
