Sharon Walker McBryde (55), of Columbus, MS, passed away November 8, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM, also at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Luke Lawson officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery.
Sharon was born on August 3, 1969, in West Point, Mississippi, where she attended and graduated from Oak Hill Academy. She later earned her a bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in English from Mississippi University for Women, where she was also a member of the Masker Social Club. A dedicated homemaker and a loving caregiver, Sharon supported her husband and sons with unwavering love and devotion. She was also an active member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Columbus, MS, where she served many years as a Sunday School and MidWeek children’s teacher.
She is survived by her husband, William Linden McBryde, of Columbus, MS; sons, Walker Linden McBryde and William Bryant McBryde, both of Columbus, MS; mother, Sandra Oneida Walker White and stepfather, Chad Turman White, of Mantee, MS; brother, Willam Wilbur Walker (Shanna) of Pheba, MS; nephews, Gibson Walker and Garrison Walker, both of Pheba, MS; and stepbrothers, Derek White and David White.
Sharon is preceded in death by her father, William Gibson Walker; grandfathers, Will Frank Walker, James Wilber Walker and John Kilpatrick; and grandmothers, Williese Gibson Walker and Louise McMahan Walker Kilpatrick.
Pallbearers will be Greg McBryde, Walker McBryde, Bryant McBryde, Gibson Walker, Garrison Walker, and Will Walker.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bubba and Kim Millsaps, Aaron Walker, Ross Walker, and members of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Amber M. Borden, the staff at the Baptist Cancer Center, and all the wonderful people at Columbus Infusion Center for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
