Sarah T. Shannon

Sarah Thaggard Shannon, age 91, of Columbus, MS, passed away August 6, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be Saturday, August 12, 2023, at  11:00 AM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel with Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating.  A private family interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Mrs. Shannon was born October 10, 1931, in Neshoba County, MS, to the late Earl and Neuvie Pauline Hicks Thaggard.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was recently attending Grace Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Larry Shannon. She is survived by her brother, Billy Pat Thaggard, and sister, Paula Bunch.
With an attitude of humility and gratefulness, a deep love for God and her family, she lived her life with courage, honesty, and hope.  She looked well to the ways of her household, always busy, although never too busy to do for others.
Loving and leaving behind her four children, Emily von Redlich, Larry S. Shannon, Jr., Bobby Shannon, Ronny Shannon, six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
