Sarah Kay Barnes

November 20, 1981 — January 27, 2024

Sarah K. Barnes added a little sparkle to heaven on January 27, 2024. She is survived by her husband, Joey Barnes, and her absolute love, daughter, Isabella.
Sarah was born in Mesa, Arizona on November 20, 1981 to Steven and Teresa Curtis.


She received her undergraduate degree from her beloved University of Arizona and her masters from the University of Florida. Sarah loved keeping up with the latest news on U of A athletics.


Sarah was kind, put others above herself, and was inclusive in all her actions.Sarah was very smart and adaptable. She wrote speeches for former U.S. Senator John McCain, programmed flight simulators for the U.S. Air Force, managed a store, and was most recently working as the Purchase Clerk for Lowndes County.


Her biggest role and honor in her life was being Momma to Bella. There was nothing else that mattered more than making Bella happy and safe.


Sarah loved to travel and make memories with her family. She especially loved Walt Disney World and Key West, Florida. Sarah and Joey also had a special connection to Biloxi, that’s where their first date was and she never let him forget. Sarah also found her favorite sushi in the world there.


Sarah dearly missed her father, Steven, who died in 2001.She is also survived by her mother, Teresa Curtis and brother, Peter (Amanda) Curtis and niece Brooke.
There are also a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins in Arizona and Red Wing, Minnesota.
Sarah also has friends across the country, in Columbus, and her work family that will miss her.


Sarah always wanted to make people happy and she did so with her big smile, quick wit, and giving heart.


A celebration of life ceremony will take place at Lion Hills Center on February 17, 2023, 1:00pm.
