Rose (Gonzalez) Bachman, 90, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022, at Windsor
Place Nursing Home in Columbus, Mississippi.
Rose was born in Jerome, Arizona on December 15, 1931 to Manuel and Agueda (Andres)
Gonzalez, who both immigrated from Spain in the early 1900s.
Rose moved to Los Angeles, California as a teenager and was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin
High School in 1951. She later lived in Arcadia, California where she raised her two daughters,
Glenda and Bonnie. Rose also worked as an elementary school tutor for several years before
moving to Columbus, Mississippi after the birth of her granddaughter, Kelly Rose Ervin, in 1986.
Rose enjoyed daily walks around her neighborhood, gardening and bird watching. She loved
music and singing, watching movies and reading. She also enjoyed shopping for antiques and was
always the best dressed lady in the room.
Rose, known by her family affectionately as “Odie,” will always be remembered for her quirky,
lovable sense of humor and how much she cared for her friends and family. She will be missed by
many.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Manuel Andres Jr., Peter Andres, Larry
Andres and her sister Mary Andres Cohen.
She is survived by her two daughters, Glenda Bachman Shaw (Mike) of Palm Springs, CA and
Bonnie Bachman Ervin (James) of Columbus, MS; her granddaughter Kelly Ervin of Columbus,
MS; her brother Anthony Andres of Orange, CA and several nieces and nephews.
Rose’s family would like to thank the staff at Windsor Place Nursing Home and especially her
personal caregiver, Roxanne McDavis.
A private memorial will be held by her family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her
honor to The Columbus-Lowndes Humane Society, 50 Airline Road, Columbus, MS 39702.
