Robert Arvil Young of Columbus, Mississippi

September 2, 1931 - February 17, 2019

Robert Arvil Young, age 87, of Columbus, MS, passed away February 17, 2019, at his residence.  A memorial service will be Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel College St. location with military honors.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Young was born September 2, 1931, in Guntersille, AL, to the late Charlie and Viola Oden Young.  He was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam serving in the United States Air Force as a medic and physician’s assistant for over 40 years.  Mr. Young was a member of the Columbus Air Force Base Chapel for over 40 years.  He loved hunting, fishing, camping and traveling the world, and was a member of Big Buck Hunting Club.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie Young and Roy Young.

Survivors include his wife of 65 plus years, Edna West Young of Columbus, MS, sons, Robert Young and his wife Sharon of Paris, TX, and Charlie Young and his wife Susan of Charleston, SC, grandchildren, Justin, Casey, Rachel, and Claire Young, and great grandchildren, Kaylee, Coleman, Leah Kate, and Riley Young.
