RETA BURCHFIELD

Reta Atkins Burchfield, age 74, of Columbus, MS, passed away November 15, 2020, at her residence.  Funeral services will be Friday, November 20, 2020, at 1:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel 903 College St. location with Rev. Danny Avery officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus.  Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.

Mrs. Burchfield was born August 16, 1946, in Millport, AL, to the late James Floyd and Alma Juanita Wood Atkins, Sr.  She was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School and was a member of Canaan Baptist Church.  Mrs. Burchfield worked for over 20 years for United Technologies and also retired as a truck team driver with her late husband, George E. Burchfield, Sr.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tracy Lynn Johnson.

Survivors include her sons, George Burchfield, Jr. and his wife Denise of Columbus, MS, and Jay Burchfield and his wife Heather of Columbus, MS, brother, James Atkins, Jr. and his wife Verline of Danville, AL, sisters, Linda Knight and her husband John of Caledonia, MS, and Judy Woolbright and her husband Breman of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Hunter Buchanan, Ridge Blackburn, Scott Johnson, Conner Burchfield, Jordan Johnson, Lexie Castleman, Madi Grace Burchfield, and Mallory Kate Burchfield, and great grandchildren, Haygen Johnson, Peyton Martin, Keli’i Blackburn, William Blackburn, Titus Buchanan, Max Buchanan, and Landon Castleman.

Pallbearers will be Ridge Blackburn, Conner Burchfield, Scott Johnson, Alan Castleman, Jimmy Atkins, Shea Woolbright, and Sean Woolbright.
