RAYBURN CANTRELL

Rayburn Dee Cantrell, Sr., age 78, of Caledonia, MS, went to be with the Lord on February 10, 2021, at his home.  Drive in funeral services will be held Sunday, February 14, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the 903 College St. location of Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home and Crematory, with Pastor Dan Louman officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at Furnace Hill Cemetery in Vernon, AL, with graveside military honors.  Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 903 College St. location is in charge of arrangements.

Rayburn was born in Vernon, AL, to D. F. and Perlie Mae Cantrell on May 11, 1942.  He served in the military for 7 years before an honorable discharge in 1968.  He served as Commander of the Local DAV chapter for three terms.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member of the Lowndes County Wildlife Federation Hunting Club for over 20 years.  He also enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.  Rayburn is preceded in death by his parents, brother Rayford, and sister, Eunidith.

Rayburn is survived by his wife, Barbara, son, Rayburn Dee Jr. (Stephannie), daughter, Kristy Cantrell Coombes, brother, Hoyt, sisters, Girthel Whitaker, Shirley Beard, Opal Mountford, and Sue Brock, grandson, Oren, granddaughter, Brittany Cantrell Williams, and 5 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Heath Beard, Adam Brock, Steve Brock, Cecil Chaffin, Jr., Todd Jenkins, and Allen Cantrell.

Honorary pallbearers will be the ER staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital and the staff of the Baptist Memorial Hospice Program.
