RALPH LOGAN – Ralph Mitchell Logan, age 79, of Steens, MS, passed away December 25, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be Friday, December 28, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel College St. location with Phillip Rickman and Elbert Wheat officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at Lone Oak Cemetery of Steens.  Visitation will be Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory College St. location.

Mr. Logan was born March 11, 1939, in Steens, MS, to the late Verner O. and Louise Sanders Logan.  Never expected to live past a young age, Ralph lived 8 full, happy decades as a bystander to local and world history.  He attended Caledonia until the 6 th grade, when he left to help his widower mother run the family store and help around the house.  He was a hard worker with a kind soul who spent his adult years assisting the handymen at Rickman’s Appliance, always making sure they had a riding companion.  Ralph was a devoted Christian taking his responsibility of greeting everyone and passing out the weekly church bulletin with unmatched dedication.  He valued his independence, having lived unassisted these last 26 years with his faithful companion, Scruffy, by his side waving at every car that passed.

Ralph enjoyed the finer things in life.  He loved Diet Mountain Dew and a pack of nabs.  He had a lifelong obsession with watches, flashlights, and batteries.  He perfected the art of riding his bicycle while clapping at the same time.  He absolutely loved Buddy and Kay Bain’s Morning Show and never missed the nightly news.  Fish from Mi Toro was one of his favorite meals.

Ralph was a dedicated son, brother, uncle, cousin, and nephew.  He never met a stranger and certainly never forgot a face.  Ralph treasured people.  He loved his family and shared connections with almost everyone in Steens and the surrounding area.  Over the course of his life, Ralph easily earned the status of “local favorite.”  Over decades, he produced a wide network of relationships and friends.  From his gentle nature, grew an honest and warm personality.  He will be missed by all.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Verna Rickman, and nieces, Stacey Camacho and Tabatha Rickman.

Survivors include his sisters, Elaine Evans and her husband Robert of Steens, MS, and LaJean Nichols and her husband Earl of Tupelo, MS, nieces and nephews, Ashley Elkins, Laura Reginbald,  Nedra Mitchell, Phillip Rickman, Rhonda Unruh, Sharon Harrison, Karen Pouncey, and Sydney Stars, numerous great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and acquaintances.

Pallbearers will be Brent Mitchell, Keith Mitchell, Eric Stars, Aubie Pouncey, Mike Unruh, and Reid Harrison.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Steens Church of Christ, Men of Lone Oak Church of Christ, and all the many special friends.
