Oliver Powe Chesnut, Jr passed away on September 3 rd , 2020 in his home in Columbus, MS.

He was born March 21 st , 1950 in Butler, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents Oliver Powe Chesnut, Sr and Audrey McLaughlin Chesnut.

Powe is survived by his wife Sandra Sanderson Chesnut and sister Bobbie Singley (Jim) and Aunt Evelyn Coker Adams.  His daughters are Amanda Kineta Black (Mitch), Kerry Chesnut (Nic), and Kimberly Chesnut (Rick). He has 6 grandsons: Chase Gillott (Mary Catherine), Peyton Gillott, Adam Stover, Arlo Jeffery, Wyatt Bowman, and Elijah Bowman.

He also has 2 nieces and 1 nephew, Missy Lawrence (Russell), Julie Grogan (Ricky), John Singley, and several great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Chesnut graduated from Livingston University in 1970 with a BA in Business. He retired from Sanderson Plumbing after 36 years of service. He was an avid hunter and loved his lab named Jack.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday September 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Columbus, MS. Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 2 nd Ave N is in charge of arrangements.

Graveside services will be Sunday, September 13 th at 2:00pm at Black Creek Cemetery in Silas, AL.
