PHYLLIS HOLMES

Phyllis Annell Josey Holmes, age 86, of Columbus, MS, passed away January 12, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel 903 College St. location with Rev. Kelby Johnson officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus.  Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.

Mrs. Holmes was born March 29, 1934, in Starkville, MS, to the late Robert Edward and Louise Fulgham Josey.  She was a graduate of Starkville High School.  Mrs. Holmes enjoyed quilting, doing puzzles, and spending time with family.  She used to enjoy fishing with her late husband, Robert J. “Bob” Holmes, and camping when all the girls were home.  Mrs. Holmes was loved by many of her kids that rode her bus and was referred to as “Granny.”  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Holmes Harris.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Holmes Rollins and her husband Billy of Columbus, MS, Gloria Holmes Thompson and her husband Roy of Caledonia, MS, Cathy Holmes Brown and her husband Billy of Caledonia, MS, and Lisa Holmes Fields and her husband Johnny of Cookeville, TN, brothers, Kenneth Josey of Grenada, MS, and David Josey of Starkville, MS, sisters, Helen Henry of Meridian, MS, and Pat Morse of Starkville, MS, grandchildren, Chuck Sanders and his wife Mindy, Brian Rollins, Jennifer Pridmore and her husband Joey, Tasha Weathers and her husband Mark, Brandi Mitchell and her husband Shawn, Donald Mayo, Samantha Henley and her husband Dale, Tyler Mayo and his wife Jessica, Ashley Harris, Jay Fields, Trey Fields, and Molly-Kay Brown, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Rollins, Chuck Sanders, Donald Mayo, Tyler Mayo, Jay Fields, and Trey Fields.
