NELLIE CALDWELL

Nellie Jewel Caldwell age 89, died Sunday July 26, 2020 at her residence in Columbus. Services will be held Tuesday July 28, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff James and Rev. Todd Stevens officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Mrs. Caldwell was born on Wednesday, May 27, 1931 in Oktibbeha, MS to the late Claudis and Ollie Pearl Jackson Johns. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was retired from United Technologies and was the bookkeeper for the family business, Caldwell Construction Company until 2008. She enjoyed serving her community, family, and friends as the owner and seamstress of her business, The Fit N Stitch where she worked faithfully until the last year of her life. She always greeted her customers with a smile where no job was too big for her. She was an active member of her church, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband T.A. Caldwell, her grandchildren, DeWayne Rushing and Traci Saucer and her great granddaughter, Morlyn Rushing.
