Nell Hoyt

Nell Sims Hoyt, age 86, of Columbus, MS, passed away December 29, 2024, at her residence. Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Gardner officiating. Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

 Mrs. Hoyt was lovingly known as "Monka" and "Oma" to her grandchildren. She was born on August 9, 1938, in Steens, MS, to the late Benjamin A. Sims and Melinda Estella Nabors Sims. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Dr. William F. "Bill" Hoyt, James A. Wallace, and Marshall Junkins, sons, James Michael "Mike" Wallace, and Terry Wallace, brothers, William "Otis" Sims, and James "Odell" Sims, Howard Sims, and Hurston Sims, and sister, Lois Brumley.

 Survivors include her daughters, Lisa C. Junkins Ferguson (James R. "Fergie" Ferguson) and Melinda Wallace Clark (Robert "Bob" Clark, Jr.), and son, Jerry Wallace (Wanda Wallace), grandchildren, Tracy Edge, Robert Clark, III, James Clark, Shannon Wallace Hughes, Jerry Wayne Wallace, and 11 great grandchildren.

 She was a retired cosmetologist and active for many years with The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 4272. She loved to cook, tend to her flowers, and paint.
