Nancy Landrum-Jacks died peacefully January 26, 2021 at her home in Jackson, Mississippi.
Nancy was born in Columbus, MS on October 21, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Roy Griffin and Frances Cole Griffin. Nancy graduated from S.D. Lee High School in Columbus and received a degree in Elementary Education from MUW in Columbus. Nancy also received a master’s degree in Education from Mississippi State University. She was an avid supporter of Mississippi State Athletics and enjoyed going to football, basketball, and baseball games.
Nancy was an educator for many years beginning with teaching at Franklin Elementary School and retiring as Principal of Heritage Academy Elementary. She was involved in many different organizations and was passionate about volunteering and spending time with her many friends. Nancy served as President of the Mississippi PEO International Chapter that was a Christian women’s organization that raises money for scholarships for women. She was a member of the Columbus Junior Auxiliary, the Garden Club, Member of the Historical Society Docent Program at the Stephen D. Lee Home . After moving to Jackson , Nancy was involved in the River Hills Bridge Club and a Luncheon Club.
Mrs. Landrum-Jacks was a highly active member of the Columbus First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, directed weddings, and helped in many other volunteering roles. In Jackson, MS Nancy and Barney attended Christ United Methodist Church.
Na ncy is survived by her husband Barney Jacks of Jackson, MS and his children ; Jan Jacks Wade (Johnny) of Jackson, MS and Jay Allen Jacks (Leslie) of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by her son Jim Landrum (LeAnne) of Frisco, TX; daughter Frances Landrum Daily (Patrick) of Jackson, MS; grandchildren Parker Daily, Catherine Landrum, Griffin Landrum, Preston Daily, and Rachel Landrum. She was pre ceded in death by her first husband of 50 years James Terrell Landrum of Columbus ; her parents ; and sister Julia Griffin Otis of Tupelo, MS.
A family only Graveside Service will be held Friday at 2:00 pm at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
