MILTON THOMAS – Hubert Milton Thomas, age 76, of Columbus, MS , passed away April 10, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at First Baptist Church.  A family graveside committal with military honors will be at 3:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery near New Albany, MS.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 716 2 ^nd Ave. North location is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thomas was born May 15, 1944, in Myrtle, MS, to the late Clyde Hubert and Euron Busby Thomas.  He was a graduate of West Union High School and Northwest Junior College and was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the United States Army.    Mr. Thomas moved to Columbus in 1970 where he owned and operated several restaurants.  He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.  He loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family and grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his sisters, Violet Richardson, Bobbie Nell Ash, and Lucy Biggs.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Parks Thomas of Columbus, MS, sons, Hubert M. “Bert” Thomas, II, and his wife Jennifer of Caledonia, MS, and Jonathan Martin Thomas and his wife Beth of Olive Branch, MS, and grandchildren, Savannah Lester, Aden Thomas, Zachary Thomas, and Peyton Thomas.

Pallbearers will be Chandler Lester, Tony Richardson, Zachary Thomas, Aden Thomas, Jordan Ash, and Jared Ash.
