MATTHEW FERRANTE - Matthew Emil Ferrante, age 91, of Columbus, MS, passed away April 4, 2022, at Trinity Assisted Living. Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Beersheba Cemetery with military honors and Rev. Sammy Crawford officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ferrante was born June 17, 1930, in Maple Heights, OH, to the late John and Mary Feast Ferrante. He attended Maple Heights High School, Kent State University, and Rollins College in Orlando, FL. Mr. Ferrante was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Korea from 1951 - 1953. After military service he was employed as a labor relations advisor for Rockwell, and later NASA HQ on the Titan I and Titan II programs, the Apollo Saturn Program, Sky Lab and the Space Shuttle. Mr. Ferrante retired in 1995 as a labor relations advisor for the United States Air Force, in charge of labor relations for the bases in the southeastern United States. He was an active member of Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Stephenson Ferrante.
Survivors include his sons, John Daniel Ferrante of Colorado Springs, CO, Tim Ferrante of Stafford, VA, and Gregg Ferrante of Picayune, MS, and grandson, Luke Ferrante of Colorado Springs, CO.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
