Mary Betts Williams

MARY BETTS WILLIAMS - Mary Betts Williams, age 94, of Caledonia, MS, passed away December 15, 2022, at Garden Hill Assisted Living.  There will be a private memorial service held for her family.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mary was born December 7, 1928, in Vernon, AL, to the late Roy and Jessie Holliman.  Mary was a lifelong resident of Caledonia where she spent 41 years as the Librarian at the Caledonia Library, which was later named the Mary Betts-Williams Library in her honor.  Mary was known for her peculiar vision of art and self-taught talents, she enjoyed making hook rugs, mosaic art, oil paintings, or designing unique pieces out of drift wood, she was so talented in many ways.

Mary is preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Holliman and Harry Holliman, late husband Charles Betts and in her later years, Gene Williams.  Mary is survived by her sister-in-law, Bonnie Holliman of Huntsville, AL, her three children, Amanda Moore of Tampa, FL, Gail McDaniel and Charlies (Debbie) Betts of Caledonia, seven grandchildren, Chad Moore, Amy Gallop, Byron McDaniel, Morgan Wright, Jennifer Pridmore, Brandi Mitchell, and Gray Betts, eleven great grandchildren, Carlie Lancaster, Blake Burke, Ashlie Gallop, Clayton McDaniel, Aiden McDaniel, Dakota Allen, Peyton Pridmore, Tristen Mitchell, Brooks Mitchell, Jackson Betts, and Charlie-Kate Betts, and one great great grandchild, Wesley Lancaster.
