Mary Lillian Wade

April 3, 1945 — November 28, 2022

Lillian Wade, 77, died Monday, November 28, 2022, at her residence in Columbus, MS.  Funeral services will be Friday, December 2, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in Columbus.  Visitation will be at 1:00 PM followed by funeral services at 2:00 PM.  Graveside services will follow at Friendship Cemetery.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory will be conducting the services.
Lillian is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bob Wade, stepson, Chris Wade of Kirkland, WA, many cousins and a host of friends, far and wide.  Lillian was preceded in death by her father, Frank Harris, mother, Cora Mae Harris, and brother, Robert Harris.
After graduating from S. D. Lee High School, Lillian attended and graduated from Mississippi University for Women (then MSCW), with a major in art.  Lillian's love of art served her well both professionally and in her personal life.  As a technical illustrator and writer, Lillian began her thirty year career at Mississippi State University in the department of aeronautical engineering.  As a pure research project matured and became independent from aero, Lillian came into her own as a writer, editing, writing, and publishing reports required by various state and federal funding agencies.
After retirement Lillian devoted her time to various organizations she supported.  She served as president of the Mississippi Chapter of the National Museum for Women in the Arts (NMWA), president of the MUW Alumni Association, and time of her passing was head docent of the S. D. Lee Home.  She will be missed.
