. Marlene Davis Younger
Marlene Davis Younger, age 84, died Sunday, February 6, 2022, peacefully at her residence in Columbus. Services will be held Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Sarah Windham officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church.
Marlene was born January 20, 1938, in Scooba, Mississippi, to the late Robert Leon Davis and Eloise “Sis” Oubre Davis. She attended Kemper County Agriculture High School and East Mississippi Junior College. At EMJC, she was selected Head Majorette, Band Sweetheart, a College Beauty, and was a member of the tennis team. While attending EMJC, she met the love of her life, Ted Younger, and it was truly “love at first sight”.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and her unwavering faith in her Heavenly Father is the foundation upon which she built her life. With her passionate spirit and affectionate smile, she touched everyone she met and made it a point to ensure those she encountered felt important and special. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and an amazing cook who cherished her time spent with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years Terrell “Ted” Fondren Younger and daughters Kimberly (Michael) Phillips (Columbus, MS) and Nichole Shows (Columbus, MS) and grandchildren Kristen Nicole Phillips (Birmingham, AL) and Michael Kyler Phillips (Columbus, MS).
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son-in-law, Brian Michael Shows (Brandon, MS).
Pallbearers will be Chuck Younger, Dow Phillips, Kyler Phillips, Mike Phillips, Tom Adkins, and Allen Ulmer.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Matthew Wade, the Staff of Progressive Care Unit, 3PT, and Baptist Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
