Mrs. Holder was born February 9th, 1945 in Columbus, MS to the late Jesse Hunter Groves and Ella Mae Beasley Groves of Caledonia, MS.  After graduating High School from Caledonia in 1963, Mrs. Holder attended Mississippi University for Women in Columbus where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.  She would later receive her Masters Degree from the W.

Mrs. Glenda married her childhood love Troy Holder of Caledonia, MS on July 1st, 1967, and was happily married to him for 34 years.  He preceded her in death in 2002.

After graduation Mrs. Holder had the privilege and honor to love and care for many children from the Columbus area in her classrooms.  She taught for 40 years and was very excited to go to work every day to teach and mold young children.  Her greatest thrill was getting the opportunity to teach for so many years and seeing her former students succeed in life.  She would always be extremely happy to teach children of students she had taught early in her career.

Mrs. Holder began her teaching career alongside her mother Ella Mae Groves at Caledonia Elementary School in 1970 and taught there until 1988.

In 1988 Mrs. Holder taught elementary at Demonstration School at MUW until 1997.

After a brief retirement Mrs. Holder ended her teaching career at Heritage Academy Elementary School in Columbus, MS where she taught from 1999-2012.

In her “spare time” Mrs. Holder was a lover of antiques and history.  She could always spend hours just walking through antique stores remembering her past and items she had adored and used from her childhood.  She also truly enjoyed visiting and speaking with elderly friends and family, learning of their childhoods and family histories.  A true “Southern Lady”, she will be deeply missed by all who she touched with her charm and grace.

Survivors include her daughter Candie Rollins (Brian) of Starkville, MS, sons Brett Holder (Sheila) of Atlanta, GA, Lance Holder (Misty) of Columbus, MS, and Matt Holder (Aimee Claire) of Hernando, MS; her grandchildren Laina Holder, Landen Holder, Charlotte Holder, Rebecca Holder, and Pierce Holder.

Pallbearers are Earle Arndt, Bud Egger, Brian Rollins, Larry Holder, Gary Thomas, and Keith Duckworth.  Honorary Pallbearers are Clifton Groves, Landen Holder, Pierce Holder, Ronny Holder, Tim McCool, Chris McCool, and the staff and residents of The Goldton at Adelaide.

The family wishes to thank the staff and residents at The Goldton at Adelaide for the love and support they showed Mrs. Holder during her stay there for the last two and a half years.  The friends and family environment she felt there was truly a blessing.
