Marcia Kellum Pate, age 73, of Mandeville, Louisiana, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Marcia will be remembered by all who knew and loved her as a woman whose kindness and grace touched everyone around her.
Marcia’s love of the Lord was reflected in every aspect of how she lived her life. And for those fortunate enough to know her, she will always be remembered as someone who spent her life joyfully and lovingly serving others.
Marcia was born on March 2, 1951, in Columbus, Mississippi, to her parents John Butler and Fannie Mae Kellum who both preceded her in death. Marcia was the third of four siblings, all of whom survive her: Delores Matthews of Morrisville, North Carolina, Karen Harris of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Lewis Kellum of Columbus, Mississippi.
Marcia is survived by her brother-in-law: Robert J. Corey of McKinney, Texas and sisters-in-law: Sandra Pate Corey of Plano, Texas and Dr. Maxie Pate Kohler of Birmingham, Alabama, and was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law: Boyd Wayne Pate, Dr. Emmett T. Kohler, Jack Matthews, William Harris and Larry Williams Pate and her sister-in-law: Connie Long Pate.
Marcia is survived by her husband Donald Elliott Pate of Mandeville, Louisiana, who loved her from the day he met her on June 23, 1968, and will continue to love her every day for the rest of his life. Marcia has three children who adored her more than they have words to express: Kristen Pate Ramirez of Highland Park, Illinois, Stephen Elliott Pate of Mandeville, Louisiana and Lindsey Pate Schramm of Highland Park, Illinois. Marcia has seven grandchildren who cherished her and will always know her as “Grammy”: Cooper Joseph Ramirez, Carter Donald Ramirez, Camille Grace Ramirez, Cole Stephen Ramirez, Sophia Lynn Pate, Jackson Elliott Pate and Elliott Grace Annalise Schramm.
Marcia is also survived by two sons-in-law Larry Ramirez and Dan Schramm who will always know her as “Mrs. Pate” no matter how many times she told them to call her Marcia.
The Pate family will receive guests on Sunday, March 17, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana
Friends and relatives are also invited to the visitation and funeral service on Monday, March 18, 2024, beginning at 10:00AM followed by the service at 12:00PM, at First Baptist Church of Mandeville, 1895 Highway 190, Mandeville, Louisiana.
A second funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 12:00PM at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 200 Mt. Vernon Road, Columbus, Mississippi, with visitation beginning at 10AM. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
