Louise Logan Grant

June 2, 1925 — November 1, 2021

Louise Logan Grant, age 96, of Caledonia, MS, passed away November 1, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.


Funeral services will be Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Center Hill Baptist Church in Hamilton, MS, with Rev. James Towery officiating and Rev. Terry Edwards assisting. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at Center Hill Baptist Church. Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 903 College St. location is in charge of arrangements.


Mrs. Grant was born June 2, 1925, in Monroe County, MS, to the late Benjamin Stephen and Maudie Holley Logan, Jr. She was the oldest member of Center Hill Baptist Church where she joined in 1940. Mrs. Grant retired from Sears having worked there for 22 years. She received her  education in the Hamilton Schools and lived her adult life in the Caledonia community. She was active in Home Demonstration Club work and was an active 4-H leader. She loved people and was known for her ready smile and genuine interest in others. Her pride and passion was her family. She was loved by her grandchildren who knew her as Mimi. She was larger than life to her family, friends, and neighbors. She was the last living member of her family, which included four brothers, Atwell Logan, Clyde Logan, Carl Logan, and Roy Logan, as well as two sisters, Mable Rye and Vera Rye.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Fletcher Grant; and son, Dale Grant. Survivors include her son,  Randall Grant and his wife Kirby of Caledonia, MS; daughters, Joyce Dorsett and her husband Jett of Lucedale, MS and Barbara Cockerham and her husband Jim of Nebo, NC; grandchildren, Jett Dorsett, Jane Dorsett Lever, Catherine Fisk, Mitchell Cockerham, Emily Silver, Callie Grant, Shelly
Garcia, Jennifer Fountain, and Phillip Dale Grant, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Matthew Fisk, Andrew Fisk, AnnaElise Fisk, Isaac Fisk, James Cockerham, Lucy Silver, Finley Silver, Julia Lever, Grant Belhumeur, Abby Romig, Mardy Fountain and Sophie Garcia.


Pallbearers will be family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 40009 Church Circle, Hamilton, MS, 39746.
