Lois R. Ashmore

Lois Rea Ashmore, 86, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at her residence in Columbus. Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Sammy Crawford officiating.  Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  Visitation was one hour prior to the service.   Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.

Mrs. Ashmore was born on August 20, 1936 in Hamilton, MS to the late Alice Beatrice Oliver and Grady Rea. She retired from Kroger Company after 35 years.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her brother, Onie Dell Rea and sister, Berniece Garner.

She is survived by her husband, Virgil Ashmore of Columbus, MS; daughter, Mitzi Hatcher (Steve) of Caledonia, MS; son, Duane Ashmore (Carol) of Daphne, AL; brothers, Jimmy Rea and Danny Rea, both of Hamilton, MS; 4 grandchildren, Chad Baird, Bradley Baird, Neil Jones, and Dustin Ashmore; and 5 great grandchildren, Seth Baird, Zacharie Jones, Reese Baird, Isaac Ashmore, and Andrew Ashmore.

Chad Baird, Dustin Ashmore, Frankie Jadzinski, Seth Baird, Doug Rea, and Tom Nelson served as pallbearers.
