LILLIE STOKES

Lillie Blaxton Stokes, age 93, of Columbus, MS, passed away June 11, 2022, at Windsor Place Nursing & Rehab.  Funeral services will be Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel with Rev. David Honeycutt officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.

Mrs. Stokes was born December 19, 1928, in West Point, MS, to the late Louis E. and Maggie Perrigin Blaxton.  She worked for a number of years at American Bosch, the Commercial Dispatch, and also as a nursing assistant.  Mrs. Stokes was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed volunteering with the VA Auxiliary.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Alston Stokes, infant daughter, Sherry Ann Stokes, brother, Sonny Blaxton, and sisters, Mary Knight and Mildred Montgomery.

Survivors include her sons, Ronald Stokes and his wife Ruthann of Columbus, MS, and Steve Stokes of Columbus, MS, brother, Harvey Blaxton of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Joshua Stokes and Amanda Stokes, and great grandchildren, Shelby Kate Stokes, Lila Stokes, and Blake Bell.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
