Leroy Funderburk

Leroy Funderburk, age 90, of Columbus, MS, passed away July 12, 2022, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, MS. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel with Rev. Danny Avery officiating. The interment will follow at 12:30 PM at Union Grove Church of God Cemetery in Mooreville, MS, with military honors. Visitation will be Friday, July 15, 2022, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mr. Funderburk was born September 10, 1931, in Itawamba County, MS, to the late James E. and Lydia Grissom Funderburk. He was a veteran of Korea serving in the United States Army. Mr. Funderburk retired as a supervisor from the Columbus Water Plant after 33 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Funderburk and 8 siblings.
Survivors include his wife Gail Stratton Funderburk of Columbus, MS, sons, Jeffrey Funderburk and Steven Funderburk,
step son, Walter Holliday, and step daughters, Lisa Chaffin and Carrie Hamilton, Anne Criddle, Barbara Korlath and her husband Bill, and Becky Stone and her husband Alan, sister, Bobbie Jean Stephens, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be family members.
