Lerisa was born on June 14, 1957 in Jackson, MS to the late Merton Taylor and Evelyn Easterling Whitehead. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Briggs; brother, Merton Whitehead, Jr.; sister, Janice Muse (Vernon); and 2 granddaughters, Ashlynd King (William) and Nikki Briggs.
