Kathryn Hudspeth Rhett passed away peacefully at her home Monday evening, April 14, 2025. Kathryn was born in Oktibbeha County on February 6, 1928, to Robert Alvin Hudspeth and Lerlene Moorehead Hudspeth.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lerlene Hudspeth, her husband of 51 years Munford Rhett, her daughter (Kathy Rhett Cesare), three brothers (Wayne Hudspeth, Clifton Hudspeth and Joe Hudspeth), and two sisters (Edna Smith and Martha Brown). She is survived by three children, Wythe Munford Rhett (Gina), Robert Arrington Rhett (Penni) and Laura Leigh Rhett Lewis (David), nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Kathryn was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbus, North Mississippi EMMAUS Community as well as the National, State and Local (Golden Triangle) Association of Realtors. She was a life member of Columbus Junior Auxiliary and Columbus Home and Garden Club. Kathryn and Munford established Rhett Real Estate, Inc. in Columbus over sixty years ago. Her children and grandchildren grew up in the real estate business and she now has third generation descendants in the family business.
If there is one legacy to remember Kathryn by it is the way she loved her Church, her family and her grandchildren (which only knew her by KK). KK always had extra pancakes or ice cream for milkshakes for any of her grandchildren and their friends that were paying her a visit on any given day.
There will be a private family graveside service at Friendship Cemetery Thursday, April 17th, 2025, officiated by Pastor Kevin Cuthbertson. Pallbearers will be: Christopher Arrington Rhett, Ronald Madison Guyton, Rhett Cesare, Wythe Arrington Rhett, John Charles Cesare, Will Cesare and Matthew Dillon Ussery. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor Kathryn’s memory may direct memorials to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 7580, Columbus, MS 39705. Friends are welcome to visit her home from 3-5 p.m. following her graveside service.
