KATHRYN GARNER
Kathryn Meadows Garner, age 71, of Columbus, MS, passed away November 15, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. Melvin Mordecai and Rev. Paul Shaw officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbus.  Visitation will be Wednesday, November 17, 2021, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Canaan Baptist Church.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 903 College St. location is in charge of arrangements.
Kathryn was born July 7, 1950, to the late Louis and Ondean Russell Meadows.  She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Craig, reading her Bible, cooking, and playing cards.  She was a lifetime member of VFW 4272 Ladies Auxiliary, served 4 years as President, and1 year as District President.  She worked at Alexander's Home Health for years as PCA and retail until retirement.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Garner, step daughters, Belinda Garner Hanson and Peggy Garner Smith, grandson, Craig Goodroe, second mama Katie Frisbie, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Survivors include her daughter, Toni Hill and her husband Derek of Columbus, MS, and Sandra Damron of Magee, MS, step daughter, Evelyn Vessenmeyer of Magee, MS, grandchildren, Craig Booth, Kayley Hall, and Michael Hall and his wife Michelle, all of Columbus, MS, Hope Goodroe of Magee, MS, and Jeremy Damron of Biggs, OK, several step grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kayley Hall, Charna Howell, Matthew Hall, Michael Hall, Brian Hall, and Justin Bowen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Shaw, Gail Kemp, Jessica Brandon, Mary Byron, and other members of Canaan Baptist Church, Craig Booth, Larry Hill, Frank Odom, Dr. Robert Buckley, Dr. Gerald Turner, and the staff and nurses of Baptist Memorial Hospice.
Special music for the service will be provided by Mary Shaw, Gail Kemp, and John Miller.
