KAY CALAWAY

Katherine “Kay” Beard Calaway, age 74, of Columbus, MS, passed away April 22, 2019, at her residence.  A memorial service will be Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Jeffrey Waldrep officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 2 ^nd Ave. North location is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Calaway was born December 19, 1944, in Columbus, MS, to the late Lewis and Margaret Backstrom Beard, Sr.  She was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School and attended Mississippi University for Women.  Mrs. Calaway worked for over 25 years for Gen Corp and was a member of Studio 206 and the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Calaway was preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Calaway, and brother, Lewis Beard, Jr.

Survivors include her children, Leigh Ann Caulder of Columbus, MS, Robbie Chunn of Hot Springs, AR, Teresa Calaway of McKinney, TX, Greg Calaway of Savanah, GA, Chris Calaway of Millport, AL, and Patrick Calaway of Ethelsville, AL, brother, Billy Beard of Nashville, TN, sister, Becky Morgan of Madison, MS, 19 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
