John Daniel Sanders, age 78 died Monday, September 09, 2019 at his residence in Columbus surrounded by his family and caregivers. Services will be held Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel 716 2 ^nd Ave N. Chapel with Rev. Steve Blalock officiating, burial will follow at Haughton Memorial Park in Amory. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Mr. Sanders was born on Thursday, February 06, 1941 in Walker County, AL to the late     Oscar C. and Agnes Hyder Sanders. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. John lived in Fayette, AL for 25 years before moving to Birmingham for a short time, before moving back to Fayette where he met and married his 1 ^st wife the late Paulette Parrish. John and Paulette later moved to Columbus where he began a 31 year career with General Tire & Rubber Company. Due to failing health he moved his parents to Columbus. After his father died, and while taking care of his mother, Paulette became ill and passed away in 1996. While continuing to care for his mother John would later meet and marry one of his mother’s caregivers, Faye Edwards. John and Faye lived a very happy and active live together until she became ill and passed away in 2015. Although John never had children of his own, Faye’s sons and their families, along with a host of caregivers and friends cared for him after her death.

David Edwards and his wife Brenda of Corinth, MS, Joel Edwards of Columbus, and Nathan Edwards and his wife Lana of Brooksville, MS.

Serving as pallbearers will be:

Morgan Edwards, Larry Johnson, Billy Gore, Cary Richardson, Raymond McCool, and Tommy Lindsey

John’s family would like to thank all of his friends, caregivers, and Mrs. Johnnie Rixie, for their visits and support during his illness.
