James H. “Jim” Pitts, age 79, died peacefully December 3, 2020, at his residence in Columbus, MS. A private service will be held at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Columbus with Bro. Charles Whitney officiating, and music provided by Mrs. Patricia Fields. Entombment will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery, Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Jim was born on Sunday, October 5, 1941, in Mississippi County, Arkansas, to the late H. C. “Bud” Pitts and Dorothy
Hardenia
Griggs Pitts. He was the loving husband of Beth Beckham Pitts, and cherished father of two daughters, Lisa Rouleau (J. P.) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jami Johnson (Steven) of Arcadia, OK. He was dearly loved by his stepdaughters, Leigh Beckham Williams (Neil) of Vicksburg, MS, and Jamie Beckham Campbell (Francis) of Okinawa, Japan, and stepson, Stephen Beckham (Heather) of South Bend, IN.
He adored his grandchildren, Colton James Rouleau, Laten Johnson, and Ava Johnson, and bonus grandchildren, Jim Williams, Grant Williams, Aurora Beckham, Declan Beckham, and Jonathan Campbell. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Ellis of Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth “Liz” C. Pitts, and sisters, Roye Lynn Mustion and Drucilla “Dru” Thomas.
