J. D. REED
John David “J. D.” Reed, age 82, of West Point, MS, passed away April 5, 2020, at his residence. A private family graveside service will be held at Memorial Gardens of Columbus with Larry Ferguson officiating. Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory 716 2 nd Ave. North location is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Reed was born January 11, 1938, in Bruce, MS, to the late George W. and Gertie Lee Reeves Reed, Sr. He was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School. Mr. Reed retired as a manager for the Mississippi Employment Security Commission and was a member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jimmie Reed of West Point, MS, nephews, Mark Reed, Glenn Reed, Greg Reed, all of Jacksonville, FL, Mitchell Reed of Clearwater, FL, and Keith Ferguson of Bay St. Louis, MS, nieces, Cindy Ferguson of Brandon, MS, Amber Coleman of Brandon, MS, and Pamela Shepherd of Gulfport, MS, brother, George W. Reed, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, and sister, Dudley Ferguson of Brandon, MS.
Pallbearers will be Tim Andrews, Blake Prescott, Mark Reed, Mitch Reed, Craig Reed, Glenn Reed, Keith Ferguson, and Joe King.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity. The family wishes to respectfully request no visitors or food.
