Janice D. Cade of Brooksville, Mississippi

March 18, 1947 - December 28, 2019

Janice Dean Cade, 72, of Brooksville, Mississippi, passed away December 28, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Lavell and Hilda Slade, March 18, 1947, in Lamar County. Janice graduated from Purvis High School in 1965. She excelled in piano and basketball.

She was married to Morgan Cade on July 31, 1965; they were married 54 years. Janice is survived by her husband and her three children: Emily Michelle Cade, of Brooksville; Robert Adam (Melanie) Cade, of Eupora; and Drew Nicholas Cade, of Brooksville. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Taylor, Peyton, Nickolas, and Claudia; her sister, Carolyn Breazeale; and her brother, Stanley Slade. Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Lavell and Hilda Slade, her sister, Linda Vines, and her brother, Stacey Slade.

Janice was a very sweet person and made friends everywhere she went. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family, most especially on Sunday and over the holidays. Her family enjoyed rising early to the smell of breakfast cooking, everything homemade. She was also a great gardener and enjoyed bargain shopping, deer hunting and raising chickens.

Most of all, she loved her family. She felt a great deal of pride in the little things her children and grandchildren accomplished. She was quick to brag on them to others at every opportunity. Needless to say, she was the light in our family, our Mama and Maw Maw, and our friend. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Janice’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at M ^c Leod Chapel, in Macon, Mississippi, with Rev. Sam Foreman and Wayne Studdard officiating.
