Jane Wilson Strickland of Columbus, Mississippi

Jane Wilson Strickland, 88, passed away on October 1, 2022 at Trinity Health Care Center in Columbus. Ms. Strickland was born on June 10, 1934 to Leo Curtis and Agnes Milam Wilson. She married Harold Strickland on May 16, 1956 and together they had three children. She was a graduate of The University for Women where she obtained a double major in Chemistry and Biology. Ms. Strickland was a well-respected member of the medical field and spent her career serving as a medical technologist at Doster Hospital, Dr. Glenn Richardson’s office, and Dr. Raymond Lott’s office in Columbus. She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. where was an Elder, a Sunday School teacher, and the organizer of many holiday bazaars. She enjoyed serving in her church, quilting, and spending timewith her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo Curtis and Agnes Milam Wilson; her husband of 35years, Harold Strickland; and one sister, Joan Agnew. She is survived by one sister, Martha Beevers (Kelly) of Cleveland; her three children, Sheila Strickland Smith (Ron) of Columbus, Curt Strickland of Columbus, and Joanna Strickland Peugh (Stephen) of Mooreville; her 8 grandchildren, Jessica Edwards, Jordan Smith, Nathan Strickland, Cody Strickland, Austin Strickland, Matt Peugh, John Peugh, and Andrew Peugh, and 5 great grandchildren. Visitation will be 5 until 7 pm on October 4, 2022 at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home, Columbus. Services honoring Ms. Strickland’s life will be at 10 am on October 5, 2022 at the funeral home with Pastors Luke Lawson and Charlie Whitney officiating. There will be a private family graveside service following the funeral.
