Jan Foster

Janette “Jan” Strickland Foster, age 82, of Alexandria, VA, formerly of Columbus, MS, passed away November 21, 2019, at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Alexandria, VA.  Funeral services will be Monday, November 25, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Chapel, 903 College St. location with Rev. Glen Miller officiating.  The interment will immediately follow at Friendship Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.

Mrs. Foster was born May 28, 1937, in Columbus, MS, to the late Monroe and Gracie Burkes Strickland.  She was a graduate of S. D. Lee High School and Mississippi University for Women.  Mrs. Foster worked for many years as a school teacher, realtor, and broker.

Survivors include nieces, Gracie Denney and her husband Paul of Madison, MS, Joyce Hinton and her husband Hoonie of Theodore, AL, Charlene Slocum and her husband Bob of GA, and Betsy Morway and her husband Pat of GA, and Evelyn Phelps of Mobile, AL;  nephew, Alfred Wright, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Macon, MS, and a number of great nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Paul Denney, Hoonie Hinton, Alfred Wright, Jr., John Hinton, Rodney Hinton, and Chris Wright.

Honorary pallbearers will be staff of Fairfax Hospital, Lettie Escobar, Homero Escobar, W. M. Dewberry, Todd Dewberry, and friends in Alexandria, VA, and Pensacola, FL.
