Columbus

Jamie J. Harvey died January 12, 2025, at UMMC in Jackson, MS. He was born September 18, 1938 in Carrollton, AL to Travis Edward & Marquerite Pate Harvey. He was an Aliceville High School graduate. After graduation he joined the US Army & served four years, with one of those years being in Germany. After his military service he went to barber school in Tuscaloosa, AL.

In 1955 Jamie married his high school sweetheart, Shirlee Dean Harvey. They were married 59 years & lived most of their lives in Columbus, MS.

All who knew Jamie would know the goodness in him. He came into the world with a sweet soul that was always easy to be around. Jamie lived a simple life. The three priorities in his life were his Lord and Savior, his family, and his WORK! He owned and operated Jamie’s Salon since the middle sixties, formerly known as Jamie’s Den. He loved his job and excelled as a master barber for over sixty years. He took great pride in taking care of his clients. He did not think of his profession as just a job rather a service. Jamie was known by his family, friends, and customers as a gentle spirit, kind, patient, & giving of himself. He was generous and a gentleman in every setting. The word that the family loved most about him was he was 100% unconditional love to every walk of life. He made everyone feel more than instead of less than. He never complained to anyone about anything.

Jamie was predeceased by his wife, Shirlee Harvey and two sisters. He is survived by one sister, Linda, his daughter Cindy Sullivan (Bill) and son, Jeff Harvey. He leaves grandchildren Leah Newell, Dean Sullivan, Brittany Gardner, Jami Adams, and Taylor Boyd as well as great grandchildren Lola & Amelia Sullivan, Jaxson & Charlie Grace Dodd, Kittery & Wells Gardner, & Aspen & Hayden Boyd.
